Canadian-born folk-country musician Amanda Von Riesen has captivated listeners with her traditional country sound and compelling lyrics. Her creativeness and free-spirited personality are reflected in her creative songwriting and expressive vocals.
Amanda’s country roots began while being raised on a farm in Steinbach, Manitoba, just southeast of Winnipeg. In addition to musical influences such as Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard. Amanda was constantly around music – her father played guitar and accordion while her mother often sang gospel around the house. Working at her father’s gas station and auto repair shop, she learned the value of hard work and the perseverance to accomplish.
In 2016, the singer/songwriter helped to form Poets & Lies, the group for which she led vocals and collaborated to expand her creativeness. Throughout the next few years, Poets & Lies performed and garnered numerous nominations from the Manitoba Country Music Awards for Group or Duo of the Year, Album of the Year, Video of the Year, and Song of the Year (Songwriters) category.
A Drinking Woman’s Words, Amanda's first solo, full-length album, is an 11-song collection delivering gritty, honest stories of contemplation, reflection, and her descriptive interpretation of the human soul and life connections. Like her visual art, her writing has shades of realism, abstract, and impressionism within the lyrics. Set for release on September 9, 2022, the album is filled with personal stories of love, heartache, recovery, and the world through her eyes.
Her belief in a Higher Power has given her a love for creating art and music while traveling the world for inspiration. Amanda is also an accomplished visual artist, having shown her work at New York’s Agora Gallery and Duluth’s Art in Bayfront Park as well as creating original pieces for community events and galas. Her commission-based work has taken her across North America and includes a recent 12.5 feet x 12.5 feet mural she painted in Colima, Jalisco, Mexico.
Currently living in Nashville, Amanda is the mother of two grown children who share her passion for art, travel, and music.
